About Endodontics

What is Endodontic treatment?

Endodontics is the field of dentistry that focuses on treating the ‘inside’ or ‘nerve or pulp tissue’ of a tooth. Healthy teeth have nerves, blood vessels and other cells within the root canal system inside the tooth’s roots. These give us, for example, the cold sensation when we eat an ice-cream or drink cold water.

Various things can cause damage to this system including deep decay, a large filling, trauma, cracks, gum disease or due to malformed teeth. This may result in inflammation or infection where the contents of the root canal system can be destroyed.

Dr. Sonja Britz, a microscopic endodontic dentist, aims to save teeth and restore them back to health to their original design.

Recently had a root canal treatment?

Get A 3D CBCT Scan Today!

If you’ve recently had a Root Canal Treatment, or perhaps a few years ago, you may want to consider getting a 3D CBCT (Cone beam computed tomography ) scan.

Now, Dental Cone Beam Computed Technology (CBCT) is a unique type of x-ray equipment that enables the production of 3D images. Not only do these images show information about the tooth structure, but the dentist can also see details affecting the nerve pathways, soft tissues, bone health, and more. As a result, precision in treatment planning helps to minimize invasive treatments and optimize long-term dental health.
